DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE SOCIAL WORKERS’ EMOTIONAL COMPETENCE IN THE PROCESS OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION

Анотація

Introduction. The article deals with the scientific problem of emotional competence development within the limits of future social workers’ professional competence. 

Purpose. Study of levels and opportunities for the development of social workers’ emotional competence in the process of their professional training.

Methods. Theoretical – analysis of sociological, psychological and pedagogical literature in order to determine the meaning of the concepts "competence", "professional competence of a social worker", "emotional competence" of a social worker, studying their structural components; synthesis, comparison, systematization, generalization in order to substantiate the theoretical positions of the research; empirical – observations, methods for evaluating emotional intelligence (emotional competence), suggested by N. Hall.

Results. The content of the concept "professional competence of a social worker", "emotional competence of a social worker" is specified, and the levels of emotional intelligence (emotional competence) of future social workers are investigated.

Originality. The structure of professional competence of a social worker as a set of the following competencies is offered: a special, related to the content and specifics of social work; methodological (technological), associated with the choice of professional methods of action, decisions in the process of providing social and psychological services. The latter includes several competencies: socio-psychological (social-perceptual and communicative), differential-psychological and autopsychological. As part of the psychological competence of a social worker, we distinguish two areas: cognitive and emotional-volitional. The emotional-volitional sphere of social worker’s professional competence can be described with the help of the concepts of "emotional intelligence", "emotional competence", "emotional culture".

Conclusion. The results of studying the future social workers’ level of emotional competence showed the necessity to study the conditions of formation and development of this integrative quality of personality in the process of their professional education.
