Introduction. Alcoholism is one of the most urgent problems in Ukraine nowadays. This is due to the high level of alcohol consumption by its population. To solve the problem, doctors, educators, psychologists and social workers are trying to identify the causes, factors and conditions for alcoholization of minors, to develop and test their own systems of prevention of alcoholism among minors. Often in the professional documentation of such specialists, the term "propensity to alcohol dependance" occurs. But neither scientific sources nor legislative documents reveal the essence of this term. Purpose.

The purpose of the article is to define the concept "propensity to alcohol dependence of a person" and to develop a program of early prevention of alcoholism in terms of general educational institutions.

Results. We have analyzed the work of researchers who studied the predisposition of individuals to alcoholism. As a result, we determined that the propensity for alcohol addiction of individual is either congenital or acquired, and gradually formed in the process of vital activity of a person. Its main manifestation is a person's increased interest in alcoholic beverages, which quickly turns into a deep and persistent need for excessive consumption. At the same time, there is a rapid formation of physical dependence on alcohol with malignant course. Propensity to alcohol dependance has two components: biomedical and socio-psychological. The biomedical component is the presence of alcoholic genes, genes associated with certain hereditary diseases. It also includes the presence of previously suffered severe somatic diseases and neuroinfections, craniocerebral trauma, which contribute to accelerate the development of alcohol dependence of individual. The sociopsychological component is associated with the errors of family upbringing and the presence of complex life situations that lead to the formation of psychological trauma.

Originality. We have suggested a number of measures for the medical-psychologicalpedagogical direction. Their goal is to prevent possible traumatic situations, both in the families of pupils, and in the conditions of the educational institution. These activities include working with parents, with a pedagogical team and directly with children

Conclusion. Thus, the definition of the term "propensity to alcohol dependence of a person" became the basis for the development of a medical-psychological-pedagogical program for the early prevention of alcoholism.
