Introduction. One of the main problems of modern Ukrainian higher educational system is to train competent professionals with a wide arsenal of professional knowledge and skills. In recent research a wide range of software quality training of future teachers of artistic disciplines is represented, including: updating educational content, improving the professionalism of teachers and students, focus on the latest research, improving practical-performing and pedagogical-educational skills.

Purpose. To outline the ways of formation of artistically-analytical abilities of students of choreographic departments on the example of study and analysis of the oldest genre of the Ukrainian folk choreographic art, namely – roundelay.

Results. Artistic abilities assist the process of cognition, comprehension and transformation of the world through the expression of individual attitude toward it, through the process of creation of material and spiritual values.

In different types of art artistically analytical activity has the features, as at first the work of art exists in consciousness of author (performer, listener) as a certain model, and already then – as financial embodiment in work of art or interpretation. Original in this value is a folk art, as it is the result of creation of many generations and incarnates in itself traditional knowledge and wisdom of people.

Getting to the roundelay analysis, students have to determine to which group they belong; analyze the remains of which religious beliefs passed in dance; which of cycles (calendar or family rituals) belongs roundelay; special attention should be paid to the choral text analysis; analyze the roundelay figures; determine the specificity of using the props in roundelay.

Originality. The article presents an analysis of roundelays as a means of developing the students’ artistic and analytical skills. For the first time found that exposing a deep analysis of folk choreographic art students learn to isolate such components as semantics, destination, drawing, specific movements in order to use in creating of their own choreographic works.

Conclusion. Summarizing the above material, we can state that the process of training of a competent professional in the field of choreographic education is impossible without the development of artistic and analytical skills of the student. However, developed artistic and analytical skills will help future teachers to improve the educational process in the future, as will enable: deeper reading of the author's intention in works of art; independent analysis and interpretation of different art forms of work; develop choreographic images thinking skills and implement it in practice activities; introduce modern educational technology and integrate knowledge and artistic experience in secondary and higher educational process of artistic direction.
